A Liverpool primary school choir will record covers of “Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland and “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary”, originally written by Judge Jack, to raise money.

Children from Dovedale Primary School in Mossley Hill are raising much needed funds for local community interest company Tender Loving Care (TLC).

Samantha Morley, a teacher at the school, said: “The school is passionate about helping their community and are committed to building a relationship with TLC to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

“The older generation can get so much joy from interacting with children in such a way.”

The songs performed by the choir will be recorded during a public social event on the 27th of June at Mossley Hill Athletic Club and then uploaded online, CDs will be available to purchase soon after with a link directly to the recording with the option of making a donation.

Based in south Liverpool, TLC are a non-profit organisation that primarily put on monthly social events which provide live entertainment and refreshments for those affected by dementia.

Aimee Carson, founder of TLC, said: “I’ve a huge passion to help other by making a positive difference to people’s lives that are affected by dementia.

“The social events have been a great success – so much so that they are now organised fortnightly.”

Peter Linden, who attends these events with his wife Joan, said: “TLC has resurrected what we thought had been lost for good; the opportunity, in a safe, accepting and friendly environment, for people with dementia, their guests and carers to meet socially.

“Also, through TLC, as well as making new friends, we have been reunited with other friends whom we thought we had lost forever.”

Tender Loving Care wanted to make a bigger difference in the community so a partnership was struck between Miss Carson and experienced social care worker Sue Redmond.

Through this partnership TLC transformed into a Community Interest Company, providing one-on-one support for individuals affected by dementia, activities in care homes and a variety of courses.
